It is now February, meaning we are only one month away from March Madness. That means my bracketology updates will become more frequent, in January I have been doing one bracket per week, but in February I hope to bump that up to two per week.

Remember that the Auto Bids are the conference leaders with ties broken by RPI. So although Arizona is tied for the Pac-10 lead and won the head-to-head Cal is still the Pac-10's auto bid due to their higher RPI.

No changes on the #1 seed line, Kansas is still the overall #1 seed with Villanova, Syracuse and Kentucky rounding out the #1 seeds.

The winner of the Midwest Region will play the winner of the South Region; the winner of the East Region will play the winner of the West Region.

the atlantic 10 is loaded this year. Also I think San Diego State should be ahead of Arizona and I;m sure Virginia doesn't like UNC being there but they don't have much of a case yet either.

I think that Marquette should be in consideration before Arizona, look at the numbers and the schedules/results. Xona may have had heartbreakers but Marquette had closer games against bigger opponents.

also what justifies having New Mexico, Missouri, Connecticut and Charlotte as high as they are. And why are Seton Hall, William and Mary, Maryland and Old dominion in the field. What do they have that separates them from teams like Louisville, Mississippi State, St. Mary's and Marquette.

I will have to go back and take another look at Marquette, they are certainly looking like they are getting close to making the field.

I explained the San Diego State/Arizona debate on the CBS site, but I'll give a quick recap. I like San Diego State, but I think the committee is more likely to take a 2nd team from the Pac-10 than the 4th place team from the Mountain West.

New Mexico is 2-0 against the RPI Top 25, 5-2 against the Top 50, 8-2 against the Top 100. Those numbers are better than Texas or any of the other teams I have as 4 seeds. They also have an RPI of 12 and a SOS of 44. If they don't lose to anyone other than UNLV and BYU in the 2nd half of the conference season (as I expect) then they will get a very high seed.

Missouri has been playing well of late and has four wins over RPI Top 50 opponents. Connecticut has a good RPI and the #1 SOS, but if they lose at Louisville tonight they are going to be out. Charlotte is probably a little high at a 9, I'll agree with you there.

As far as the bubble teams go, I'll borrow a line from Jerry Palm on the CBS site, when you get down to the last few teams none of them are really worthy to be in the Tournament but someone has to be put there. It is really a mediocre bubble this year and I don't really think Louisville, Mississippi State or St. Mary's has done anything to deserve a spot either. Like I said earlier I'll have to go back and look at Marquette again.

ya and like dan or beer said earlier noone is really looking like the want to make the field. if it keeps up that way then perhaps it will be good if and when bubbles get burst when teams that shouldn't be in the tournament earn autobids
